On September 23, He Min, a student from the School of Information Engineering, achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the third-place prize in the "Cybersecurity" track of the China Vocational Skills Competition. Demonstrating solid professional knowledge, superb operational skills, and steady psychological composure, He Min stood out among nearly 1,000 competitors. This victory marks a historic zero breakthrough for our university in this prestigious national event. The achievement has significantly boosted the morale of both faculty and students, while further enhancing the university's reputation and influence within the national applied higher education sector.

The poem, "People often admire the present brilliance of a successful flower, yet forget the seedling's early struggles, soaked with the tears of hard work and the rain of sacrifice," perfectly encapsulates He Min's university journey. Since his enrollment, he has discovered his passion and direction in the field of cybersecurity. His journey is marked by an impressive series of accomplishments: the Third Prize in the final of the first "Great Wall Cup" Information Security Triathlon, the National Second Prize in the Information Security track of the 2024 Industrial Economy Application Innovation Vocational Skills Competition, the Silver Award in the 2025 Digital China Innovation Challenge — Mobile Internet (APP) Security Points Contest, and the National First Prize in the 2025 National College Student Information Security and Countermeasure Technology Competition... These include 13 national awards and 10 provincial/ministerial awards, alongside advanced certifications like the Data Security Professional Capability Certificate and the Information Security Tester Vocational Skills Advanced Certificate. This string of honors represents the solid footprints of countless days and nights spent with his keyboard, grappling with vulnerabilities, and is the fruitful harvest nurtured by his sweat and intelligence.

He Min's stunning success is also a vivid reflection of our university's long-standing commitment to its applied education orientation, deepening industry-education integration, and cultivating high-quality, application-oriented talents. As a key training base for applied talents in Southern Jiangxi, our university closely aligns with the needs of regional economic and social development. We have established a "Two-and-a-Half Layer" talent cultivation model and explore a "1154" development path, striving to nurture high-quality applied talents who exemplify moral integrity, understand theory, master practice, and excel at innovation. In recent years, the School of Information Engineering has consistently prioritized cybersecurity as a key specialized direction. With a forward-looking vision and systematic planning, it has built an integrated talent cultivation system encompassing teaching, research, competition, and service. Leveraging well-equipped facilities like the Cybersecurity Attack-Defense Laboratory and the Electronic Data Judicial Appraisal Laboratory, the school provides students with a "training ground" highly aligned with real-world network environments. Through project-based teaching rooted in "industry-education integration," it constructs a "fast track" for student growth—from the classroom to the competition arena, and then to the workplace—encouraging students to translate theoretical knowledge into practical problem-solving abilities and hone their skills through successive challenges.

It is reported that the 3rd National Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China, organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and hosted by the Henan Provincial People's Government, opened on September 19. This event, renowned as the "National Games" or "Olympics" of Chinese skills, is characterized by its high standards, large scale, and extensive influence, representing the highest national-level vocational skills competition. State Councilor Shen Yiqin and Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Wang Xiaoping attended the opening ceremony. The five-day competition featured dozens of tracks closely linked to industrial development. Among them, the "Cybersecurity" track resembles a battlefield without gunfire, requiring participants to build defenses, identify vulnerabilities, and launch precise counterattacks in a rapidly changing environment—a dual test of intellect and psychology. Winning an award in such a high-stakes, high-intensity national competition is not only the ultimate testament to personal capability but also signifies that He Min has reached a leading domestic level in the relevant technical field, underscoring the substantial "gold content" of this award.

We look forward to seeing more students from Ganke shine on future skill competition stages, proudly representing our university and contributing their youthful energy to the national strategy of building a powerful skills nation!
